West Cape Cabins Retreat's alternative accomodation style - Cowrie Bay Cottage is a uniquely furnished, fully self contained cottage.
The cottage offers accomodation for couples, families and groups. It has easy access for prams and wheelchairs. The cottage sleeps up to 14, with one full bathroom and an ensuite. It has a bug proof outdoor area and an outdoor fire pot. The cottage has been constructed using salvaged and recycled timber from the property and surrounding areas. It has unique landscaping and has been designed to blend with the surrounds and cause minimal harm to the environment while still maintaining all the comforts of home. Prices vary according to numbers staying but are as low as $30 per head.

Birds - 341 species of birds have been identified in East Gippsland. Thsi is nearlly half of all the birds identified in Australia.

Mammals - 18% of all Australias mammals live in East Gippsland.

Reptiles - 10 snakes, and many lizards including the large monitor lizard (sand goanna) live in East Gippsland.

Plants - East Gippsland is home to many rare and unusual plants. The tallest flowering plant - the mountain ash, the cabbage tree palm and many beatiful wildflowers. Everything from desert species, warm and cool temperate rainforest, coastal heathland and the tall forests all make up East Gippsland.

Just 2 km from the West Cape boat ramp and jetty, and a 15 min walk through the coastal bush and heathland to a secluded section of beach.
